Manual Transmission Fly Wheel Bolts
Flywheel bolts are bolts designed to attach the flywheel, to the engine. A flywheel bolt is designed to withstand high rotational forces applied to the side of the bolts. A failure of a flywheel bolt is typically cause by one of these bolts being sheared. Shearing is when the bolt is sliced in half; this results in a total loss of power, to the transmission. Over time and repetitive installation the flywheel bolts can lose their strength from stretching and fatigue. It is good practice to replace the flywheel bolts each time the flywheel is removed from the engine.
