Jeep & SUV Soft Doors
Jeep and SUV soft doors are available in many colors in order to match the vehicle's soft top. This type of door has almost all of the same features as a regular fiberglass or metal door with the exception that the exterior is made out of a strong soft fabric. This fabric can be many different types of materials but denim and vinyl are the most commonly used because of their strength are resistance towards deteriorating in harsh weather conditions. Special cleaners should be used on jeeps or SUVs that have soft doors to prevent damage to the fabric that can be caused by long periods of sun exposure or harsh chemicals that may be used to clean other components on the vehicle.
The interior of a soft door will have a metal frame, latches, and mounts so that the door still has the same structural integrity as a solid metal door. Soft doors use an internal metal frame because it provides more safety in the event of a collision and it allows for more surface area were the fabric can be attached to a solid surface to prevent flapping and faster deterioration of the fabric at high speeds. The interior of a soft door may also include a handle, drink holders, or compartments for miscellaneous things just like any other metal door.
Installation of a new soft jeep or SUV door is fairly simple and can be done at home without having to do any drilling or any other permanent modifications. Most soft doors will have the same style hinges as the original door which makes installation even that much easier. The shape and style of a soft door will vary depending on what conditions it is made to be used for. Some soft doors will be just the lower part of the door while others will run all the way up to the vehicles top and include a window. Many of these soft doors that run all the way to the vehicles top will have a zipper down the middle which allows the window portion to be removed when driving in good weather.
