Helper Leaf Springs
Helper springs are additional leaf springs that are easily bolted to the rear springs, of a vehicle. Adding these springs will prevent "bottoming out" while driving over bumps while towing a heavy load or when making a turn which could shift the weight of the load to one side. Whether towing a jet ski, or a fifth wheel, these springs improve the vehicle's suspension, without significant or permanent changes to the vehicle.
Helper springs are convenient due to their ability to engage only when the vehicle is pulling a loaded trailer. When the vehicle is not towing, the vehicle's standard suspension is in use. Having adequate suspension while towing, improves traction while cornering and overall stability in many driving conditions. The installation of helper springs is easy and can be done at home with no special tools required. There are many different variations of helper springs which are used, based on the size of the vehicle, and the amount of weight the springs are expected to support.
