Engine Torque Struts
Motor torque limiters or engine torque struts, are designed to eliminate torque, and front or rear movement, of the engine's transmission assembly. Using one of these torque limiters will greatly improve shifting in a manual transmission vehicle and can help prevent case breakage in automatic transmission vehicles. Using limiters is highly recommended on vehicles that produce a large amount of power and may not have a motor plate to handle the torque efficiently. A twist in the vehicles frame and body can cause not only cosmetic damage, but it can also impair the reaction time between the engine and the wheels. An engine lifter will help prevent broken motor mounts and cracked or broken bell housings caused by driveline twist.
Engine limiters are mounted diagonally between the engine block and the frame rail which prevents forward and rearward movement of the engine during a hard launch and braking conditions. It is recommended that one is used on either size of the engine so ensure limited movement. These limiters usually come in kits that contain the engine plate and brackets, strut rod, and grade eight hardware to mount the parts. Using a motor torque limiter will help everyday enthusiast who want the benefits of a solid motor mount for racing but in their vehicles that are used for everyday driving. Some of these limiters have removable torque links which can be removed by using pins and clips. This removable torque link is great because it allows the limiter to be used at the track, but then taken off for the ride home which will now be more comfortable.
